If the brake suddenly fails during driving, it is likely to cause vehicle damage and casualties, so mastering some emergency methods may be able to save the danger. Generally speaking, most of the brake failures are found when the car is going downhill, and only when the car is downhill, especially when there is no brake when going down a long slope. The situation is even more serious. Let's have a look.
Four signs before brake failure
1. The brake is biased
This phenomenon is that when the brake is pressed during driving, the steering wheel will deflect like one side. The main reason for this phenomenon is that the force distribution of the brake cylinder on the brake pad is not uniform, resulting in serious eccentric wear of the brake pad.
2. Longer brake pedal travel
When I used to use the car before, I stepped on the brake pedal and the brake response was very fast. Now it takes a foot to step down to get the braking force, which means that the stroke of the brake pedal has become longer, that is to say, the brake is soft. The cause of this situation is that the main pump or sub pump oil pressure is insufficient, and there may be oil leakage.
3. The brake makes a strange noise
Generally speaking, it is normal to make abnormal noise when stepping on the brake during driving after raining or washing the car. This is due to the expansion and contraction of heat. But if there is abnormal noise when stepping on the brake, it may be the brake pad problem.
4. It vibrates when you step on the brake pedal
If you step on the brake pedal in normal driving, the pedal will shake seriously, which indicates that the surface flatness of the brake pad may be inaccurate. In particular, some vehicles with a long age have a higher probability of this situation.
How to deal with brake failure during vehicle running
1. According to the road conditions and vehicle speed, control the direction, get out of the high gear, at the same time quickly blow a foot of empty oil, shift the high gear into the low gear. In this way, the engine will have a lot of traction resistance, and the speed will be reduced rapidly. In addition, when shifting to low gear, the handbrake should be used in combination, but it should be noted that the hand brake can not be tightened or pulled too slowly. If it is pulled too tightly, it is easy to lock the brake disc, which is likely to damage the transmission parts and lose the braking ability; if it is pulled too slowly, the brake disc will be worn and ablated and the braking effect will be lost.
2. The use of bumper, car and other rigid parts of the car with the roadside natural obstacles (rocks, trees or soil slopes) friction, collision, to achieve the purpose of forced parking escape, as far as possible to reduce accident losses.
3. In case of brake failure when going uphill, it is necessary to reduce to middle and low gear timely and keep enough power to drive to the top of the slope to stop. If it is necessary to park on a half slope, keep the forward low gear, tighten the hand brake, and timely block the wheels with stones, skids, etc. In case of back sliding, the rear of the vehicle should face the hillside or safety side, and turn on the headlights and emergency signal lights to attract the attention of the front and rear vehicles.
4. When the brake fails on the downhill and the vehicle's own mechanism cannot be used to control the speed, the driver should decisively use the natural obstacles, such as the rocks and trees beside the road, to cause resistance to the car. If a suitable terrain or object can not be found for a moment, in case of emergency, one side of the vehicle body can be close to the mountain side to increase the resistance by friction and gradually reduce the speed.
5. When the vehicle is going down a long or steep slope, the brake should be stepped on regardless of the situation. It can not only test the brake performance, but also gain the time to control the vehicle speed when the brake failure is found, which is also called predictive braking.
If it is uphill, then the problem will not become a problem. As long as the oil is collected, there is no reason not to stop. However, we should pay attention to one point at this time: because the uphill must be in gear. At this time, it is necessary to prevent the rear car from slipping. Pay attention to the movement of the rear car and try to play a good direction to avoid collision with the rear car. If the rear car follows closely, add more oil, pull over as far as possible, and then collect the fuel.
