Speaking of Japanese furniture, the most representative is tatami. In fact, in modern home decoration, the practice of spreading tatami all over the home is very rare. People who like tatami usually choose a small room specially designed as "harmony room", or transform the indoor balcony into tatami form, greeting guests or inviting friends to have a heart to heart talk. However, tatami is becoming more and more popular in the market, and the quality of tatami naturally has its own advantages and disadvantages. How to distinguish the good from the bad? How to clean and maintain in daily use? Let's get to know it!
What is tatami
Tatami is a kind of material used to lay the floor in the traditional Japanese rooms, which originated in the Han Dynasty of China and spread in Japan and Korea during the prosperous Tang Dynasty. Strictly speaking, tatami is actually a mat of rush grass on the floor.
In the past, most of the buildings in Japan were of wooden structure. Tatami was very convenient for spreading tatami. Moreover, tatami could meet visitors, serve as bedrooms, serve as restaurants, study rooms, and store materials. As a result, tatami was once the mainstream home choice in Japan.
The traditional Japanese tatami is 90cm wide, 180cm long, 5cm thick, with an area of 1.62 m2. One piece is called a stack; there are also 90cm × 90cm half tatami sheets. The area of a typical room is calculated by the number of tatami. Tea rooms are usually four and a half stacks (6.97 square meters). When laying combination, there are different arrangements according to the quantity of tatami.
What are the benefits of tatami
Economy saves money
In Japan, houses are standardized, tatami is also standardized. A four and a half fold room, directly bought tatami (that is, mat made of rush grass) and spread it on the floor, and then installed a wardrobe, equipped with a set of tables, this room decoration is completed.
Save space
After reading the above, I believe you all know how much space can be saved when this room is used as a five room tatami. This is why tatami returned to China from Japan.
healthy
As the ancients said, "standing like a loose seat, sitting like a bell and walking like the wind", tatami is much harder than sofa and Simmons. The muscles of tatami sitting are in a tense state, and there will be no fear of muscle relaxation. Newborns should sleep in a hard bed, which is conducive to bone development.
Methods: the quality of tatami was identified
1. Appearance: smooth and straight is better, loose and soft collapse is the second.

3. Straw mat: at the joint of straw mat, the "Ya" shape sewing slope is uniform, and the "∥" shape sewing edge is the second.
4. Hemming: the stitches are even and beige, and the edges and corners are the best; when the stitches are disordered, white polyester thread is used, and the edges and corners are brown and slightly round.

6. Thickness: the thickness of the upper, lower, left and right sides is the same, and the hardness is the same; the thickness on the right side is thicker than that on the left side, the upper part is hard and the lower part is soft.
7. Poor quality tatami: the surface has a layer of white mud dye pigment, the surface is rough and easy to fade; the filling material treatment is not in place, resulting in dust and sand in the straw mat; the hardness of tatami is not enough and easy to deform.
